US Agency for International Development

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funds country specific projects in the area of sustainable development. Projects originate in the country and must meet criteria set by USAID. However U.S. companies can bid on the procurements that come from the projects. USAID has helped create major markets for agricultural goods, created new markets for American industrial exports and meant hundreds of thousand of jobs for Americans. USAID has helped the State of Missouri in three major areas.
  • Helping Missouri Agriculture: Wheat, rice, feed grains, soybeans, cotton, soybeans and other agricultural goods for use in food aid programs.
  • Boosting Missouri's Shippers: Shipping and handling of USAID food shipments has generated revenue in port services and shipping charges for companies headquartered in Missouri.
  • Strengthening Higher Education in Missouri: USAID has sponsored foreign participants' training at Missouri's universities and educational facilities.

Global Technology Network (GTN)

GTN is operated and administered by the Office of Business Development (BD) of USAID. GTN is a trade lead/business-matching program that facilitates the transfer of U.S. technology and services to developing countries.
